FRENCH LICK, Ind. – On Saturday, the 2009 marching band season will get underway with the second annual Springs Valley Festival of Marching Bands.
The festival will feature Paoli, Orleans, Northeast Dubois, Crawford County, and Springs Valley. This festival is unique in that the shows will not be judged for scores or placings. This show is designed to be performance oriented and promote camaraderie between local marching bands. It also allows all five area bands to perform close to home before heading out on the road next week for the first week of the fall contest season.
The Springs Valley Band Boosters will be selling concessions as well as raffle tickets to win a number of prizes donated by local businesses. Sponsors include: The French Lick Springs Resort, Valley of the Springs Resort and Big Splash Adventure Indoor Water Park, Orange County Hospital, Orange County Beverage, Chicago's Pizza, The Pluto Corporation, Stella USA Flags, Small Town Photographs, Hober-Reber Productions, Nancy Anderson, and 936 Custom Drums.
Small Town Photographs will also be selling buttons and posters of your favorite bands, as well as taking photos that can be purchased online. Admission will be $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children ages 6-18. Fans are encouraged to arrive early because seating is limited.
If you cannot make the event, you can watch every minute of the festival online. Indiana Marching.com, Indiana’s source for marching band, will be broadcasting the event live on their website.
