GREENWOOD, Ind. – In the final regular season contest, the Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade won the Cavalcade of Champions contest at Center Grove High School.

In Class D competition at Center Grove, the Brigade also won awards for best music and general effect.  The Brigade also topped Lewis Cass, who won the state title in 2006 and 2007. "Well, we did not have our best performance Saturday,” mentioned Director of Bands Luke Aylsworth.

“The kids knew it, the staff knew, and most of our fans were aware. However, it is good to know that we are still very good even on our off day,” added Aylsworth.

With the win at Center Grove, the Brigade has completed an undefeated regular season.  "We are very proud to have an undefeated regular season,” said Aylsworth. “This is an honor not held by many Valley bands. It is very exciting and humbling."

With the regular season in the past, it is time to turn all eyes towards the Indiana State School Music Association’s (ISSMA) Southern Regional at Evansville Central High School.  “The kids seem focused this week. It is now time to kick it in high gear and perform at the highest level,” Aylsworth concluded.

The Brigade will take the field at 1:18 pm Eastern Daylight Time.  Awards are scheduled for 3:40 pm.

In the latest Indiana Marching.com Class “D” Writer’s Poll, the Blackhawk Brigade is once again first in the poll.  Springs Valley is also ranked first for the fifth consecutive week.  The Brigade is also first in the south region poll.  Paoli remains fourth in the state while Orleans falls to ninth.  Regionally, Paoli is third while Orleans is sixth.
