EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade survived a blustery day at Evansville Central High School and received a ticket to the Indiana State School Music Association’s (ISSMA) Class D Semi-State this weekend.

The Brigade earned a gold rating this past weekend, earning the advancement to semi-state.  Director of Bands Luke Aylsworth sent a twitter message to Brigade fans following the performance stating, “Awesome performance! Our best of the year... best of the decade!”

This weekend, the Brigade will head up Interstate 65 to the Franklin Community High School ISSMA Class D Semi-State.  Springs Valley will be one of 20 bands (10 from the South and 10 from the North) competing for a state finals ticket.  The Brigade takes the field at 3:10 pm.  Awards are scheduled for 6:15 pm.

Both Orleans and Paoli also advanced to Semi-State after receiving gold in Evansville.  Should all of the Orange County bands earn a bid to state finals, it will be the second time that has happened. The first was in 1992 when Paoli won the Class C title while Springs Valley was runner up in Class D and Orleans finished 10th.

In the latest Indiana Marching.com Class D Writers Poll, released Monday, Springs Valley remains in control of the number one spot for the sixth consecutive week.  The Pride of Paoli moves down to seventh place this week while Orleans falls to 12th.
