On Monday, the Springs Valley Blackhawk Brigade hosted a
Christmas concert at the Springs Valley Jr./Sr. High School
Auditorium in front of a crowd of family and friends to
enjoy some holiday cheer.
This was the first Christmas concert for
Director of Bands at Springs Valley, Luke Aylsworth. "This
was the first Christmas concert I have ever conducted and
the first for our program in several years. The students
did a great job learning the pieces quickly and performing
well."
This concert was quickly but together by
Aylsworth. It posed no problem for the band as they learned
the music quickly and was excited to perform in front of
a crowd again. "It is really nice to be at a level
with out program where we can schedule quick concerts. It
no longer takes us a great deal of time to program a concert.
The students work hard and get the job done,” mentioned
Aylsworth.
If you remember, the Brigade’s last
major performance was at the ISSMA State Finals at the RCA
Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 21. It was Springs
Valley’s first trip back to the RCA Dome since 1994.
The Brigade placed fourth in Class “D” State
Finalist competition.
The Brigade has also performed at two basketball
games and at the grand opening of the French Lick Sonic
Restaurant.
Christmas music has become a staple of
the holiday season. Aylsworth said that, "Christmas
is a special time of year. A major part of Christmas is
the music we associate with the season. The students and
I had a great time being a part of that holiday tradition
and providing some music to put our audience in the spirit
of Christmas."
Aylsworth and the members of the Springs
Valley Blackhawk Brigade want to wish everyone in the community
a safe and happy holidays.
