FRENCH LICK, Indiana – The Springs
Valley Blackhawk Brigade did not open the 2007 season the
way it was scheduled at Heritage Hills. However, they put
on an exhibition show at Springs Valley High School and
pleased over 700 fans.
Springs Valley hosted their annual community
show before starting their regular season Saturday afternoon.
Fans were treated with a stand-still performance and a full
show. Many were excited to see what the 2007 Brigade had
done over the course of two months of work and what will
come over the next six weeks.
The Brigade was scheduled to participate
in the Heritage Hills contest in Lincoln City, Indiana.
However, Mother Nature dumped nearly seventy-five one-hundredths
of an inch of rain in Lincoln City, forcing many bands,
including Springs Valley to leave
To make up for the lost contest, the Brigade
will attend the Southern Indiana Marching Band Festival
in Charlestown before they make their way to the Pride of
Paoli Invitational. Springs Valley will compete in Charlestown
at 11:15am before traveling to Paoli to perform at 8:03pm.
At both venues, the Brigade will be in Class “AA”
competition.
Looking towards September 22, the Brigade
travels to Indianapolis for the first of hopefully two trips
to the capital city. They will perform at the Avon and Greenwood
contests sponsored by Meijer.
